British Columbians can now have their orders of recreational marijuana delivered to their homes using Canada Post couriers.

According to the province, starting this Friday, authorized cannabis shops can send their products directly to clients through Canada Post and other delivery services.

Orders for cannabis placed by British Columbia residents through authorized cannabis retail establishments are subject to the same quantity limitations as are in place for orders for delivery of cannabis in stores (CRS). The province, for instance, caps orders at 30 grams of dried cannabis each order.

Only adults 19 years of age or older may accept cannabis deliveries, and they must be signed for. Only British Columbia addresses are eligible for deliveries.

The province thinks expanding delivery choices will aid in increasing opportunities in the cannabis sector.

The executive director of the Retail Cannabis Council of BC, Jaclynn Pehota, stated that private sellers “welcome this expanded delivery regime.”

“Our members will find this to be a valuable tool. The government heard us and complied. Retailers will thrive and British Columbians will continue to have a choice as customers if they know that the government supports and is fostering parity within the legal cannabis market.

Delivery services were referred to by the Retail Cannabis Council of British Columbia as a “important tool” for operators.
