Over 50,000 Floridians have signed a petition to legalise cannabis for adult use.

Election vote voting

More than 50,000 valid signatures have been collected in an effort to put the issue of cannabis legalisation for adults directly to voters in Florida in 2024, but the petition still has a long way to go before it is placed on the ballot.

According to the Florida Division of Elections, the petition needs 891,589 valid signatures to be certified, and it also must be approved by the Supreme Court of Florida.
Would make it legal for people over the age of 21 to possess, buy, and use cannabis.
According to WOFL in Orlando, Florida’s medical marijuana market leader Trulieve Cannabis has spent $10 million in support of the petition.

Attempts to put adult-use legalisation on the 2020 and 2022 Florida ballots both failed due to a lack of verified signatures, and the 2022 effort was subsequently thrown out of court.
