The Rebirth of Cannabis in Thailand: Key Information

Tailand

Thailand has made headlines around the world by legalizing marijuana for recreational use for the first time in Asia. On June 9, 2022, the health authority removed marijuana from the list of prohibited substances, giving Thai citizens permission to grow and use the well-known drug at home.

Hashish manufacturing, sale, and consumption, as well as the illicit importation of cannabis, are all still prohibited in the Land of Smiles.

Thai citizens are now permitted to produce cannabis as long as they register with the government since cannabis is no longer classified as an illicit narcotic.

Commercial producers must nevertheless get licenses from the Food and Drug Authority, including businesses.

THC levels in food and drinks served at restaurants and other establishments must be less than 0.2 percent.
