Autoflower vs photoperiod – which should a beginner grow?
I keep seeing people recommend both autoflowers and photoperiods for beginners and I'm confused. What's actually easier?
Autoflowers seem simpler because of the light schedule, but I've also heard they yield less and you can't clone them. What's the real deal?

Autoflowers for learning, photoperiods for maximizing.
Once you have 2-3 grows under your belt, switch to feminized photoperiods. You can veg as long as you want, train heavily, and pull 4-6oz per plant. But the learning curve is steeper.
Royal King Seeds has great autoflower genetics to start with — Northern Lights Auto and Zkittlez Auto are both incredibly beginner-friendly.

Honest answer: autoflowers for your first grow, 100%.
Here's why:
- No light schedule changes (run 18/6 the whole time)
- Faster harvest (8-10 weeks total)
- Smaller plants = easier to manage
- More forgiving of mistakes
Yes, they yield less per plant — but the simplicity is worth it when you're learning. My first auto gave me 2.5oz. My first photoperiod? I killed it by messing up the light schedule. 😅

One thing nobody mentions: autoflowers are PERFECT if you don't have a dedicated grow space. You can run them in a small closet with a basic light on a simple timer. No need for light-proof seals or complicated scheduling.
