Every strain page states what we selected for, the lineage we worked from, and the documented ranges for flowering, yield, and cannabinoids — as ranges, because phenotype and environment move them. Where a cultivar originated with another breeder, we say so instead of implying we own the name.

How we develop a seed line
Four stages, in order. Nothing reaches a store until the release batch has been grown out and germination-tested.
Define the target
We record what a breeding project is meant to preserve or improve — terpene profile, structure, vigour, finish window — before a single seed is popped.
Grow and evaluate
Populations are run under identical conditions and logged plant by plant: vigour, structure, aroma, finish time, and how uniformly the traits show up.
Select and stabilise
Selected phenotypes are crossed and backcrossed over successive generations (BX1, BX2, BX3…) until the population expresses the target traits consistently.
Verify the release batch
A final grow-out checks that traits have not drifted, and the batch is germination-tested against our 95% floor before it is released to a store. Batches that miss the floor are pulled, not discounted.

Does Royal King Seeds breed its own genetics?
Yes. Royal King Genetics is our in-house breeding team. We run phenotype populations, select, backcross over successive generations, and grow out a release batch before seeds reach a store. Where a cultivar was originated by another breeder, the strain page names the lineage we worked from rather than implying we created the name. Read the full process →
How do I choose the correct regional store?
Pick the store for the country you want the seeds delivered to. Each store holds its own inventory, prices in local currency, and ships domestically with tracking — so a US order does not cross a border, and an EU order does not wait on customs. Use the store selector above.
What does the 95% germination guarantee cover?
95% is the threshold at which the replacement remedy applies, not a prediction of your result at home: if fewer than 95% of eligible seeds germinate under the required paper-towel method, we replace them free. Batches are tested to that floor before release (2026 QC: n=1,820 across 14 cultivars, 96.4% mean). How do feminized and autoflower seeds differ?
Feminized seeds are bred to overwhelmingly produce female plants, and need a 12/12 light change to start flowering, which lets you decide how long to vegetate and how large the plant gets. Autoflowers start flowering on age alone, finish sooner, and stay smaller. Compare them on the feminized and autoflower pages.
Is it legal to buy cannabis seeds where I live?
Rules differ by country and often by state or province, and they change. In Canada, Health Canada advises buying seeds from a provincial or territorial authorised source and states that knowingly using seeds from an illegal source is against the law. In the United States, rules vary state by state. In Germany and other EU markets, home cultivation rules differ per country — see cannabis seed laws in Europe. How many strains do you carry, and are they the same in every store?
