Best soil for first cannabis grow? Don't want to mess this up
Starting my first grow next week. Everyone recommends different soil and I'm overwhelmed. Fox Farm, Roots Organics, Coast of Maine... What's actually the best for a complete beginner? Growing autoflowers in 3 gallon fabric pots.

Pro tip: add 30% perlite to whatever soil you choose. Better drainage = harder to overwater = fewer problems. This alone prevents most beginner soil issues.

For absolute beginners: Fox Farm Ocean Forest. Period. It's available everywhere, tons of guides use it, and it just works. Don't overthink it — your genetics matter way more than your soil brand.

Fox Farm Ocean Forest is the most beginner-friendly. It's pre-amended with enough nutrients for 3-4 weeks, so you don't need to feed early. Just water and watch them grow.
Only downside: it can be "hot" (too many nutrients) for very young seedlings. Some people start in Fox Farm Light Warrior for the first 2 weeks then transplant to Ocean Forest.

Coast of Maine Stonington Blend is my top pick for organic growing. It's a living soil that feeds the plant naturally throughout the entire grow. Just add water. Seriously — I've done full grows with zero bottles.
