Can I grow cannabis on my apartment balcony? Tips needed
I live in a legal state and want to grow on my south-facing balcony. It gets about 6-7 hours of direct sunlight. Is that enough?
Worried about:
- Not enough light
- Neighbors seeing/smelling
- Wind damage
- Heat in summer
Anyone successfully growing on a balcony?

6-7 hours of direct sun is borderline. Cannabis really wants 8+ hours. You can supplement with a small LED panel during cloudy days.
For smell: autoflowers with low odor profiles work best. Northern Lights is famous for being stealthy. Also look into carbon filter fabric pots if neighbors are a concern.
I grew 2 plants on my south-facing balcony last summer — got 3oz total. Totally doable!

I'm actually the one who posted this and wanted to update — I went for it with Northern Lights Auto from Royal King Seeds (https://royalkingseeds.us). 6 hours of sun plus a small supplemental light worked great. Harvested 1.5 oz from one plant. Neighbors never noticed!

For balcony grows, go with compact autoflowers. They stay short (under 3 feet) and finish before anyone notices. Use fabric pots with saucers to catch runoff. Wind can actually help strengthen stems!
