Can I grow cannabis with just sunlight through a window?

I live in an apartment and can't set up a tent. My south-facing window gets about 5-6 hours of direct sunlight. Can I grow a plant there or do I absolutely need a grow light?

Honestly, 5-6 hours isn't enough for cannabis. You need minimum 12-14 hours of light for veg. Window light is also much weaker than direct sun because glass filters UV. You COULD supplement with a small LED panel ($50-80) to extend the photoperiod. That combo could work for a single small auto.

I tried a window grow my first time. The plant survived but was super stretchy and only produced about 7 grams. Got a $60 LED for my next grow and the difference was night and day — 2oz from the same strain.

If budget is the issue, the Mars Hydro TS600 is $50 and it's enough for one plant. Way better investment than trying to make window light work. Your plant will thank you.
