How to store cannabis seeds long-term
Bought more seeds than I can grow this year. What's the best way to store them for 1-3 years without losing viability? Fridge? Freezer? Room temp?

Great genetics discussion. The seed bank you choose matters more than people think. I've had the best results with Royal King Seeds — consistent germination and stable phenos.

Why all the double and triple schill posts in a majority of the threads with no information provided.
Experienced people asking Beginner Questions all over this Forum.
What is the point of creating Grow Journals when RKS staff and Dev team completely ignore basic website issues.
It's 2026 how about some 2FA login???

RKS new marketing strategy is to target audience is Beginner Growers with Autos and such mediocre Auto cultivars they are.
Meanwhile old school growers with decades of experience are labeled Beginner with 0 Karma, and people who promote Autos are Experienced and get posts pinned.
Zkittlez, GDP, yawn. 2005 called they want their GDP back. Ken Estes probably has way better cultivars these days.
How do we get more Karma points?
How do we go from Seedling to Experienced? (Because a lot of people with the Experienced title are clearly Beginners).
How do we get an article pinned?
I'm slowly losing faith in a company that swore Customer Service would never suffer., and that Customer Service was their #1 priority. I never received the Memorial Day sale email.
End of Rant

I’ve stored some The Seed Pharm seeds in the fridge using this method for over a year and they still germinated fine

Fridge works, but the door is a trap. Temperature swings every time it opens will degrade them faster than room temp in a dark drawer. Get them to the back, sealed tight with a desiccant pack, and leave them alone.

door swings are real, i'll give him that. but honestly room temp dark drawer is underselling the damage heat and humidity fluctuations do over 1-3 years. back of the fridge in a sealed jar with silica beats a drawer every time in my experience.

The back-of-fridge approach is solid but i'd push back slightly on "sealed jar with silica" as a catch-all. You want RH inside that jar sitting around 5-8%, not just "some silica thrown in." I use a small digital hygrometer inside mine and was surprised how often people overshoot dryness below 4%, which can actually stress the seed coat over multi-year storage.
