Pheno hunting a pack of Zkittlez, week 2 veg differences
Popped a full pack of 12 Zkittlez beans about 3 weeks back, got 9 healthy sprouts and kept 8 going into solo cups. Now sitting in week 2 of veg under a 4x4 and the variation is already wild, way more than i expected from a mostly stable strain.
Three of them are stretchy and light green, super sativa-leaning structure, internode spacing is long and the leaves are narrow. Two are short and squat, dark green, almost indica-looking with fat leaflets. The other three are somewhere in the middle, which is usually where the boring phenos live in my experience.
Smell-wise this early its hard to say much but im already rubbing stems. Two of the stretchy ones have this sharp, almost fuel-and-candy thing going on, very loud for week 2. One of the squatty ones smells straight floral and sweet, like grape candy. The rest are pretty neutral still which worries me a little.
In my runs i've noticed the more sativa-leaning phenos in fruity strains tend to carry the louder terps at harvest. The squat ones can surprise you though, had a purple pheno in a different run that was absolutely disgusting in the best way, pure gas under all that fruit.
Anyone had experience with Zkittlez pheno hunts? Curious if the stem rub at this stage is actually predictive for you guys or if its all just guessing until flower. Thinking about cutting it to 5 plants before flip but not sure which direction to drop first.
