Living soil recipe for cannabis β never buy bottled nutrients again
Here's my no-till living soil recipe that I've been using for 3 years:
**Base Mix (per cubic foot):**
- 1/3 peat moss or coco coir
- 1/3 aeration (pumice or perlite)
- 1/3 compost (homemade or worm castings)
**Amendments (per cubic foot):**
- 1/2 cup neem meal
- 1/2 cup kelp meal
- 1/2 cup crustacean meal
- 1/4 cup gypsum
- 1/4 cup basalt rock dust
**Cover Crop:** White clover + crimson clover
**Mulch:** Straw or barley straw, 2-3 inches
Mix it all together, moisten, and let it cook for 30 days. Then just plant and water β the soil biology does the rest. I haven't bought a bottle of nutrients in 3 years. π±

Fabric pots work great β I use 10-15 gallon pots for no-till. The microbial life establishes in about 2-4 weeks if you add compost tea. After 3-4 cycles, the soil is incredibly alive.
The key is: never let the soil dry out completely, always have a cover crop, and never disturb the soil layers.

Been wanting to try no-till for a while. How long does it take to build up the microbial life? And can I use this in a fabric pot or does it need to be a larger container?

Converted to living soil last year after reading about it here. The flavor difference compared to synthetic nutrients is night and day. My Zkittlez grown in living soil had the most incredible terp profile I've ever produced.
