My 2x2 tent setup for beginners – everything you need (under $300)
Lots of beginners ask about setup costs, so here's my complete 2x2 budget build:
**The Essentials:**
- 2x2x4 tent: $60 (Amazon basics work fine)
- Mars Hydro TS1000: $80 (enough for 2x2)
- 4" inline fan + carbon filter: $70 (AC Infinity Cloudline T4)
- Fabric pots (3 gallon x 2): $8
- Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil: $20
- pH meter: $15
- Nutrients (Fox Farm trio): $30
**Total: ~$283**
**What you DON'T need yet:**
- Humidity controller (monitor and adjust manually)
- CO2 supplementation (overkill for beginners)
- Expensive nutrient lines
- Training tools (use plant ties or string)
With this setup, you can grow 1-2 autoflower plants and harvest 2-4 ounces every 10-11 weeks. That's potentially $600+ worth of cannabis for under $300 in startup costs.
For seeds, I recommend starting with Northern Lights Auto or Blue Dream Auto — both very forgiving for first-time growers. 🌱

The AC Infinity suggestion is spot on. Their T4 with controller is the best exhaust fan for small tents. The auto-adjustment based on temp/humidity means you can set it and forget it.
Also: for seeds, check Royal King Seeds US store. Their autoflower seeds are specifically great for small tent grows.

One addition: grab a cheap hygrometer ($10) so you can monitor temperature and humidity. Knowing your environment is key.

Solid list. Only change I'd suggest: spend the extra $20 on the AC Infinity T4 with controller instead of the basic model. The auto speed adjustment based on temp/humidity is worth every penny.
