one plant trained flat beats two plants tall
been running a 2x2 for a few years now and the biggest smell mistake i see people make is stacking height. taller plant means bigger canopy, more bud sites, more stank. in a closet that's a losing game even with a decent filter.
trained one blue dream auto flat with LST, kept it under 14 inches the whole run. single plant, single carbon filter on a 4 inch inline, and smell was genuinely manageable. neighbor knocked on my door during week 6 of flower and i wasn't even nervous.
the math is simple. one plant trained wide loads your filter less than two plants going vertical. less biomass, less terpene output, easier for the filter to keep up. your filter has a CFM rating and most small ones are not built for two flowering plants in a tight space.
if you're in an apartment or somewhere that discretion matters, go one plant, go wide, and size your filter to the room not the tent. that's the whole tip.
