Week 6 scrog update, net finally filling in

Dropped the screen at about 10 inches above the canopy six weeks ago and i've been running four plants under a 3x3 net. Started with two topped plants on each side and let the main colas grow up, then tucked them horizontal every two or three days once they hit the screen. Right now i'd say the net is sitting around 70 to 75 percent full, which honestly feels right on schedule for where i want to be before the flip. The left side of the net is filling faster than the right. Two of the plants are a Purple Punch pheno that just runs aggressive laterals once you top her, and those branches are threading across the open squares faster than i can keep up with. The other two are a bit more compact and upright so i've been doing a little extra weaving on those, bending the tops outward toward the empty corners to pull coverage across the whole net evenly. Defoliated pretty hard below the canopy this week. Anything that wasn't getting light and wasn't a main branch got pulled. You want airflow under that net or you're just asking for problems down the road. The tops above the screen are short and tight right now, maybe an inch or two above the mesh, so i'm still tucking every couple days to keep everything flat. Plan is to flip to 12/12 once i hit 85 percent coverage, probably another week out. I like having a little room left when i flip because the stretch fills the rest naturally and you end up with an even canopy without fighting it. Post a pic of your scrog setup if you're running one, always curious how other people space their screens relative to the canopy.

Solid timing on the flip logic. A lot of people wait until the net is completely packed and then wonder why they're drowning in stretch. One thing i'd watch with that uneven fill situation -- if the Purple Punch side is running hot with laterals, those branches are going to keep outpacing the compact plants even after the flip. Might be worth selectively pinching or slowing the aggressive side for a few days rather than just weaving the slower plants outward. Gives the whole canopy a chance to equalize before you commit to flower. The hard defoliation under the net is the right call. I run living soil and the last thing i want is stagnant, humid air sitting on the soil surface. Keeps the microbial layer healthier too, not just a disease prevention thing.
