bud rot got me once, wont get me again
lost a whole og kush plant in week 7 about twelve years back. humidity spiked, airflow was garbage, i didnt catch it in time. that was the last time i ignored canopy density going into late summer.
what i do now is lollipop harder than most people are comfortable with. strip out the lower third, thin out the interior a bit around week 3-4 of flower. people see all that green on the ground and think youre hurting the plant. youre not. youre buying yourself airflow and you can actually see whats happening inside the canopy.
timing matters too. i do my stripping early morning when the plant isnt already stressed from heat. and i watch the 10 day forecast obsessively once were past the summer solstice. any extended rain period showing up in late september, i start thinking about early harvest on the dense colas first.
last thing. space your plants. i know everybody wants to maximize the plot but crowding is just asking for problems. give them room to breathe and the mold issue gets a lot easier to manage before it even starts.
