62% won't save a bad cure, timing matters more
People obsess over Boveda packs and humidity targets but completely ignore the burping schedule and it kills the terps every single time. i've seen gorgeous smelling cuts turn into hay because someone just sealed the jar and forgot about it for 2 weeks.
First 3 days after jarring, i'm burping twice a day, 15-20 minutes each session. You want the moisture to equalize slowly, not sit stagnant against the flower. That stagnant air is what breeds the flat, grassy smell that covers up everything interesting.
Days 4 through 10 i drop to once a day, still 15 minutes. After day 10, every other day. By week 3 i start pulling small test nugs and really nosing them hard. That's when you can tell if a pheno has something special or if she's just average.
The 62% target is fine for storage but i actually cure at 58-60% and let it climb to 62 when i'm done actively working the jars. Keeps the surface of the bud drier and the terps concentrate better in my experience. A gassy or fruity cultivar gets noticeably louder this way compared to jarring wet and relying on humidity packs to do the work.
Cure is where the pheno hunt actually finishes. You can have the best nose in the garden and still bury a keeper if you rush the jar.
