one plant trained wide beats two plants tall
running a single autoflower in a 2x2 and doing aggressive lst from week 2 changed everything for me. one plant spread flat across the canopy hits way more of the light footprint than two plants fighting for vertical space. and you get one big root zone instead of two competing ones.
the smell thing is huge here. two plants in flower at the same time is almost double the odor load on your carbon filter. i was burning through filter media way faster when i ran two. dropping to one well-trained plant extended my filter life noticeably and kept things manageable.
specifically i ran a low-odor auto last cycle, kept her under 20 inches with a net, and my 4 inch inline barely had to work. neighbors situation where i live makes this non-negotiable so i pay close attention to what strains and what plant counts actually stress the filter.
one plant, wide and flat, is the stealth play. less smell, better light coverage, simpler to manage. not the highest yield on paper but the risk to reward ratio is way better in a tight space.
